Arsenal Transfer News: Gunner's Target Huntelaar Pens New Deal

Arsenal target Klaas-Jan Huntelaar pens new Shalke deal

earlier this month suggested Arsene Wenger was hopeful of a double swoop for former Gunner Thierry Henry and Huntelaar to bolster his forward line. Huntelaar had previously refused to sign a contract extension with the German club, with his contract set to expire next summer, whilst Liverpool were also interested. However, according to the MailOnline, the Dutchman today signed a two year extension at his club, and stated it has given him "the best feeling".

"I have thought long and hard about this decision and I am very grateful to my managers at Schalke 04, who have have given me this time. "But now I have made €‹€‹the decision, in which I have the best feeling. I've always felt comfortable at Schalke, the club and its fans. I now want to put a positive sign, because I believe in our team and the fact that we are in the second round in the Bundesliga is a great prize. "And we are in the knockout stages of the Champions League against Galatasaray."
The 29 year old forward moved to Germany from AC Milan in 2010, and was the top goalscorer in the Bundesliga last season with 29 strikes. Are you disappointed Huntelaar has signed a new contract? Would you have liked to see him join up with the Emirates side? Share your thoughts below.
