Arsenal Transfer Speculation: Robin Van Persie Wants To Join Juventus

The Italian champions are now favourites to sign the striker, who scored a whopping 30 league goals last season.

Robin Van Persie may be set for a shock move away from the Barclays Premier League with growing rumours of Italian giants Juventus having strong interest in the striker. The Dutchman has already confirmed that he will not be signing another contract with his current club Arsenal. If the Gunners don't offload their skipper, he would be able to leave on a free transfer in 12 months time. The Italian champions are now favourites to sign the striker, who scored a whopping 30 league goals last season. Reports suggest that Italian Champions Juve have already made an £8 million bid for Van Persie, only to have it rejected, but are currently preparing a bigger and more realistic effort to tempt the Van Persie away from English football. The new bid is expected to see the Italians pay £180,000-a-week to secure his services. This would undoubtedly be a good more for the Italians, who have failed to make much of an impact in European football in recent years. But what does this mean for Arsenal, the club that watched Robin grow over his 8 years with the club? After buying the young Van Persie from Dutch club Feyenoord in 2004, Arsenal have allowed the striker to grow and develop into the player he is today. With his first season at the club Van Persie only managed a measly 5 goals, he didn€™t make a huge impact until the 2010-2011 season which saw his goals rise to 18 in the season. So Van Persie wants to leave the club that made him, the moment he becomes a valuable play? And can be blame him for that? As rival fans keep reminding them; Arsenal have not won anything since the FA Cup in 2005. So perhaps the striker€™s desire to add some medals to his trophy cabinet isn€™t a disrespect to his current club, but a career move that could see the striker become one of the greatest strikers of the modern game, we'll see.
