Arsenal Transfers: 5 French Players The Gunners Might Get In January

Premier League leaders Arsenal have had some of the finest French footballers of recent times on their books. Thierry Henry, Robert Pires and others have all delighted Gunners fans during Arsene Wenger's reign.

Current crop Bacary Sagna, Laurent Koscielny, Mathieu Flamini and Olivier Giroud have done well this term. This French foursome has helped Arsenal go from perennially finishing fourth to once again looking like genuine title contenders.

As Wenger chases a first Premier League title in ten years, he may be tempted to bring more of his fellow countrymen to the Emirates in the January transfer window. The general consensus is that the Gunners need winter reinforcements as the tough festive fixtures schedule usually takes its toll on the squad.

Often cautious when it comes to spending his transfer budget, Wenger remains coy about dipping into the market this winter. His charges sit two points clear at the Premier League summit, however, and Arsenal are also through to the Champions League knockout stages yet again.

This lofty position and a continuing European campaign make the Gunners an attractive prospect for potential recruits. The WhatCulture sports team have wracked their brains and picked out five French footballers that could join Wenger at Arsenal in January.
