Arsenal Transfers: 8 Exceptional Deadline Day Signings Wenger Should Make

The talents who could convince Wenger to open his purse again...

Arsenal don't like to be predictable, but they have started to stick to something of a trend in recent transfer windows, pulling off major deals in the final hours with Jim White practically exploding in the Sky Sports studio at the very idea of it all. Arsene Wenger might have poured cold water on that particular fire in the past few days with the revelation that he's not looking to sign anyone else after capturing Paulista, but he did suggest that exceptions could be made:
"If I wake up and someone exceptional stands in front of my door, I will open the door. It's unlikely now."
So what might exceptional look like for Wenger? Even with their first choice eleven out, the Gunners look vulnerable through the middle, and with their defensive midfield options limited by age and injuries, that might be the best place for Wenger to start opening some doors before time runs out. Could he go out and spend a significant amount on improving Arsenal's overall balance? Time will tell, but there are some massive options he should consider...
