Arsenal Transfers: Gunners Favourites To Sign Wilfried Bony

Bookies think the Swansea man could be the alternative to Falcao.

Arsenal are the bookmaker's favourites to sign Wilfried Bony this summer, according to Sky Bet. The transfer window slams shut at 11pm tonight and the Gunners are in urgent need of a new striker with Oliver Giroud out until the New Year with a broken leg. And according to bookies, Arsene Wenger's side are ahead of Everton and London rivals Spurs in the race to sign the Ivorian. Arsenal are 5/2 favourites to sign Bony with the Toffees a more distant 25/1, though Tottenham are in the hunt and have odds of 5/1 to land the former Vitesse star. Liverpool and Chelsea are also keen in the player but have only an outside chance of 25/1 each to bring any move to fruition on deadline day. Gunners fans reacted with fury when their side missed out on No.1 summer transfer target Radamel Falcao to rivals Manchester United today and may now switch their attentions to Bony as Wenger weighs up making a late move to add quality to his forward line, which has been further depleted by the long-term injury to Giroud. News that they're the favourites to land the Swansea man may come as a small crumb of comfort to fans. Bony has been terrific since moving from Dutch team Vitesse in 2013, and scored 16 Premier League goals in his debut campaign for the Welsh side last season. Monaco are a fanciful 33/1 to wreck the Gunners' bid by landing the 25-year-old as a replacement for Falcao - who will join United on loan later this afternoon - and it looks as though derby rivals Spurs are the only credible threat to Wenger landing the player.
