The saga behind Arsenal’s playmaker, Robin Van Persie is getting to point here he now feels like an outcast or less strong, a spurned lover.
After revealing on his personal website on July 4th quoting “ that he wouldn’t be signing a new contract”, most Arsenal fans have been distraught to the point of deeming him selfish.
Let’s quickly take a rain check. His performances for the last eight years (except last season) was marred by a series of long injuries spells and during such time, Arsenal fans have been patient with him because he simply was a good player whenever he became fit and displayed what he was capable of doing as a striker.
One way or the other, Arsene Wenger will try hard to keep him, no doubt, by any means necessary but not through agreeing an increase in his wages, simply because he gained recognition for being the highest scorer in the Premier league but rather observing if his golden goose of a striker can perform and exceed his manager’s expectations for the new season yet again.
Fine-from my own point of view-Robin Van Persie has a right to express his feelings about the club’s direction and who among the Arsenal fans wouldn’t especially since the last time the club earned any trophy was in 2005. But I sincerely believe there are other channels of resolving such situations. This is just my own opinion.
Presently, Robin Van Persie should feel more happy with his feelings about the club’s present direction, with the manager bringing in the likes of Olivier Giroud (Montepelier), Lukas Podolski (Cologne) and imminent Santi Cazorla (Malaga) in less than twelve weeks.
If there’s isn’t any cause for “raised eyebrows” for the swift decision-making of Arsene Wenger bringing in these new faces, then I really don’t know what else to say.
As an Arsenal fan, I believe the club is heading in the right direction and poses a future threat as one of the major contenders for the forthcoming Premier league title.
The next thing I believe the club needs to do is to cement some experience to fill the gap of right back in Arsenal’s defence line.
Once that’s done, sky’s the limit for the hope of all Arsenal fans.

I would think that probably as a Captain, van Persie had opportunity to contribute his ideas for the development of the club. Once he found that the club is probably not valuing his ideas, the decision was to not agrreeing to sign a new deal. To me van Persie was open to say what he feels than the likes of Clichy and Nasri who just wanted to quit for trophies! But who brings trophies? it must be players isn’t it? Ifi you look how van Persie and Fabregas worked hard, you understand why they decided to move to other clubs. Something which I do not see in Nasri and Clichy. The only difference between Cesc and van Persie is ‘their statements’ to quit. van Persie said ‘lack of club’s future directions’this means, he likes the club but not happy with ways the club is being RUN. But Cesc said is going to his ‘boyhood’ club but both should praise Wenger and arsenal for their development and they have to leave with lots of faithfulness. Now that Wenger has shown signs of improving the squard why should van Persie move away? I think he has to be happy and has helped to make changes which surely will be valued in the pitch! Happy Gunners.
i think the same. He’s the captain and he should KNOW better because Cesc Fabregas did the same thing. I believe as a Arsenal fan myself he should stay and Cesc should move back. Here’s a simple reason said to why he left:
“I want to win more trophies. Here our trophy rush has ended”
happy day fans
I think RVP achieved his purpose in getting management to sign some more quality players. We (fans and players) were concerned that management seemed indecisive, and lagged behind other teams in the EPL who were not only attracting great players, but also siging them. With Podolski, Giroud, Cazorla and Sahin as Gooners we would be heading in the right direction, and Van Persie should stay. We now have quality in depth in every part of the field (maybe with exception to defense). With Sagna injured, I suspect teams will try to exploit our weakness at right back, and hope that with the departure of Squillaci, Park, etc. we will move to recruit a RB. Of course, we can play Kos the Boss at RB, and Mert/Verm & Gibbs or Santos at LB, but that means one of our key center-halves may get injured (and only Djourou to act as back up with the up and coming Bartley) or Song moving to defense. I prefer that we recruit a good quality CB that can also play RB, and a goalkeeper, after onloading a few players. If Arshavin stays, and Diaby, Wishere, and Rosicky healthy, I have great expectations for the team this year. Really, I do. Go Arsenal.
