Ashley Cole Rejected Newcastle Move On Deadline Day

The Champions League winner didn't fancy a switch to Tyneside.

Former Chelsea star, Ashley Cole rejected a move to Newcastle United on transfer deadline day, according to the Express.

Reports from Italian media, Gazzetta dello Sport state that the Champions League winner turned down a return to the Premier League after a late approach from the Magpies.

The 34-year-old has struggled to break into the first team set-up at Roma who he joined on a free transfer last summer from Chelsea.

The England international has made just 11 appearances for Rudi Garcia's side and is currently being kept out of the side by former Paris Saint-Germain player, Lucas Digne.

The player is expected to leave Roma in January and it will be interesting to see if Newcastle are still keen to make an offer for the left-back.
