Aston Villa Transfer News: Villa Announce Signing Of Jordan Ayew

Ex-Marseille and Lorient striker joins Sherwood's side - finally!

Aston Villa have confirmed the signing of Jordan Ayew for a fee reportedly in the region of £12 million. Ayew's move to the Premier League sees him follow in the footsteps of brother André as Villa look to rebuild their side following several key departures. The Ghana international scored 12 league goals for Lorient last season in 31 appearances following a move from French giants Marseille. Manager Tim Sherwood said:
"I'm really pleased to bring Jordan to the football club. "He is a fantastic young player who is perfectly suited to the Premier League."
The striker arrived in Birmingham but accused Lorient of upping their transfer fee demands. According to a Daily Mail article last month Ayew's English representative Mark McKay believes the striker will excel in the Premier League:
"Jordan has age and talent on his side. He's a versatile forward who is quick and gets goals. I took Diafra Sakho to West Ham last season and I rate Jordan in the same bracket. "He can have a big impact in England."
Ayew joins new signings Jordan Amavi, Idrissa Gueye, Scott Sinclair, Micah Richards and Mark Bunn. Villa are also reportedly close to agreeing a loan deal for Tottenham striker Emmanuel Adebayor.
