Atletico Madrid Win The Race To Sign Jackson Martinez

The powerhouse striker turned down offers from Liverpool and Arsenal in favour of Simeone's side...

The Express state that the Porto striker will be moving to La Liga next season after preferring the project that Diego Simeone offered him.

Representative Luiz Henrique Pompeo, speaking to Calciomercato, said: "We thank Milan and especially (CEO) Adriano Galliani, who did everything possible to take him to the Rossoneri."

He added: "The player preferred to say yes to Atletico Madrid for the project they built around him.

€œThe deal is done because I say it is.

"He has already signed on for the next four years and the Spanish club paid the release clause in his contract.€

Arsenal, Liverpool and AC Milan were all interested in the Columbian who scored 32 goals in all competitions last season.

The player has a £25 million release clause that Arsenal had triggered earlier this summer.

Atletico then placed a rival bid and have now reportedly signed the centre forward.
