Borussia Dortmund vs Real Madrid - Team News, Match Preview & Likely Line-Ups

Match Preview

After watching last night's demolition of Barcelona by German opposition, Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho might be slightly concerned a similar result is on the cards tonight as his Spanish champions take on Borussia Dortmund. When the draw was made for the semi-finals, many of us predicted an El Classico Champions League final, but now, we could have an all-German affair on our hands. The manner in which Bayern Munich took Barca apart last night sent shock waves throughout the footballing world and Mourinho will be determined not to fall in the same manner his La Liga rivals did that evening. But his side face stiff opposition tonight and Dortmund will be a very familiar opponent. The two sides have met twice already in this season's Champions League, when they were pitted together in the so called "Group of Death" at the start of the campaign. Then, Dortmund won the group after beating Madrid 2-1 at home before drawing 2-2 away. If they can replicate those two results in each of their two legs this fortnight, we will be looking at an all-German final. The stats suggest as much. In 24 visits to Germany in the Champions League, Madrid have won but once and tonight they come up against the only undefeated side in this season's competition. This time last year, Jose Mourinho's side were knocked out at the semi-final stage of the tournament by German opposition, thanks to a defeat by Bayern Munich. Could lightning be about to strike twice?

Predicted Scoreline

Borussia Dortmund 2-1 Real Madrid I expect Jurgen Klopp's men to draw first blood tonight in their two-legged clash with Real Madrid. The Germans will have been buoyed after seeing Bayern Munich thrash Barcelona and while I don't expect them to hammer Madrid, I do predict they will prevail over the course of two games and reach the final - and what a final that would be.
