Celtic Transfers: 10 Big Signings For Champions League

10. Aiden McGeady (Everton)

First up a former Celt who many of the fans would welcome back with open arms. McGeady spent most of his early career with Celtic before leaving for Spartak Moscow in Russia in a £9.5 million deal. The Republic of Ireland international had mixed fortunes during his time in Russia, scoring 17 goals in 72 games, before returning back to British football in January 2014 with Everton. Things have stalled for McGeady since his move to Everton, where most of his appearances have been as a substitute. This has resulted in speculation linking him with a move back to the club that first made him a star and, given McGeady€™s past association with the Bhoys, it seems plausible that he could be tempted by a move back to the SPL champions in an attempt to reenergise his career. At the age of 29, McGeady could offer a relatively young Celtic squad some vital experience for their Champions League campaign should they qualify, as well as providing a dangerous threat from out wide. Given that he seems to be surplus to requirements at Everton he probably wouldn€™t cost as much as the £6 million Hartson has suggested Celtic might spend, but he would nonetheless be a huge signing for the club.
