Champions League Final: 4 Reasons To Support Borussia Dortmund

dortmund Football is always more fun when you've got someone to support, but the Champions League final on Saturday will leave many English fans cold in that regard. How can we possibly pick between two German teams? Surely their German nature means we must hope for a freak accident in which both teams somehow lose humiliatingly? Well, no. If you're a football fan, you need to be backing Borussia Dortmund when that grand orchestral theme tune sweeps around Wembley. And here's why...

4. Jurgen Klopp

Jurgen_Klopp You could say this is the Klopp reason to get behind Borussia on Saturday. *Snigger.* Like a gleefully insane Jose Mourinho crossed with your favourite teacher at school, Klopp is just one of the most likeable people working in football right now. He's charismatic, wittt, and shamelessly passionate; he claims then when Shinji Kagawa came to him to confirm he would be leaving Dortmund for Man Utd, the two broke down and cried in each others arms for 20 minutes. I question how true that story is, but if it is a lie admire the mixture of madness and love for football required to make it up. Here's a direct quote when talking about his wife:
"she wrote a book for children. It's like Harry Potter - but it's about football. There's no Harry Potter flying on his fucking stick - just football."
How could anyone aside from the most ardent Harry Potter fans not have fallen in love with him by now? He's a staunch supporter of fluid, exciting football, he's overseen the transformation of Borussia Dortmund from flailing, near-bankrupt no-hopers to possible Champions of Europe, and he's very, very handsome in a nerdy sort of way. Klopp deserves to be ranked among one of the best coaches in the entire world, and you should be cheering for him to win the Champions League because of this.
