Chelsea: 4 Reasons David Moyes Is Perfect To Replace Rafa

the Telegraph has reported that Everton Boss David Moyes is high on Roman Abramovich's list of replacements. With his contract set to expire soon, and Everton enjoying another strong season, interest in Moyes is bound to peak, and looking at his career on paper it's not hard to see why. In his time as Everton boss, net spending is just £16.85€‰€‰million, and in the same time Everton have only finished outside the top ten twice and only three of those times have been out of the top seven. He may have been ruled too defensive for Tottenham in the summer, but that is a huge misjudgement, and Moyes could well go on to a Champions League team. Could it be Chelsea? The managerial Merry-Go-Round at Stamford Bridge over the last few seasons has left many questioning the owner but in appointing Moyes he could be taking big steps towards stability. And here is exactly why the Scot would be perfectly suited to West London.

4. He Has A Knack For Spotting And Developing Talent

everton leighton baines Everton chairman Bill Kenwright is not a free spending billionaire like Roman Abramovich or Man City's owners, so David Moyes and his team of scouts have had to extensively scout and spot the best young talent and turn them into competent Premier League players. The best two examples of this are Phil Jagielka and Leighton Baines who were both signed as youngsters for comparatively low fees and over the last 5 years have become fully fledged England Internationals, with Baines now arguably the best left-back in the Premier League. Moyes also spent very little on bringing in Nikica Jelavic and Stephen Naismith from Scotland, in comparison to the cost of other teams' strikeforces, and they have proved to be more than capable of handling the rigours of the Premier League. With Abramovich's millions at his disposal it would be interesting to see how Moyes would develop the Chelsea squad, especially with all the quality that already ply their trade at the Bridge and also how he would develop and improve the younger players like Ryan Bertrand and Oscar. Chelsea fans could rest assured however, that Moyes would be sensible and intelligent enough to know how to strike a balance between making new signings and bringing through the best the Chelsea youth team has to offer because he has been among the very best in doing so for the last 11 years.
