Chelsea: 4 Reasons David Moyes Is Perfect To Replace Rafa

3. He Is Tactically Excellent

Over the last 11 years David Moyes has transformed Everton from a team who just about avoided relegation every season into a team who are almost perpetually guaranteed to finish in the top half and challenge for European places. This is especially remarkable considering he has not had many of the tools that you need to bring success in the modern game: Moyes does not have a free spending chairman and he does not have first choice of the world's best players like a Manchester United or Barcelona. Part of the reason that Everton have been so consistent is their managers tactical brilliance, he recognises that his team maybe cannot match the likes of Manchester City and Chelsea in terms of quality of player so he sets up his team to play to its strengths. This season is a prime example of this: Moyes sets up his team to be dominating at home, where everything comes through Marouane Fellaini and Leon Osman in the centre of midfield and the pace of Kevin Mirallas up front. However, away from home he tends to play the counter attack where the left hand side combination of the excellent Leighton Baines and Stephen Pienaar are matched with a more bustling, powerful centre forward like Anichebe or Jelavic. He rarely gets his tactical decisions wrong and is probably only second to Sir Alex Ferguson in that respect, he would definitely be able to fix Chelsea's defensive problems and find a way to get them playing more as a team. Former Chelsea Boss, Carlo Ancelotti said while he was at Stamford Bridge that David Moyes was the best manger he came up against in a tactical sense and his former employers could do a lot worse than giving Moyes the shot at glory he deserves.
