Chelsea Transfer News: Blues Confident Wayne Rooney Will Join For £30 Million

Mirror. The Blues are set to table a second bid of £24 million for the Manchester United striker having had their first offer rejected last week, and feel they can land the 27-year-old for £30 million. United continue to publicly insist Rooney is not for sale but the former Everton man has become Jose Mourinho's prime target this summer, with the Portuguese boss stating "It's Rooney or bust" this summer. If the Reds are successful with their ongoing efforts to sign Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas this summer, Chelsea expect United will be more inclined to sell Rooney, using the Spaniard's arrival as means of justification. And while Chelsea feel their domestic rivals have no option but to sell the unsettled striker this summer, they are prepared to wait until the final days of the transfer window for the deal to go through. The Blues have abandoned the mouth-watering notion of landing Rooney in time for their crunch clash with United on August 26th, with that tie at Old Trafford now looking set to be a stormy affair given the ongoing situation.
