As Chelsea’s interminable quest to land highly-rated Brazilian Hulk from Porto rolls on into another week reports are emerging that the Blues have grown frustrated and will re-focus on another target. Italian paper Gazzeto Della Sport claims that Fiorentina’s Montenegro striker Stevan Jovetic is that man, with Chelsea set to table a £20 million bid.

He might resemble a long lost member of Mott the Hoople, but Jovetic is one of Europe’s brightest attacking talents, with the 22 year-old ace boasting a terrific goal scoring record for club and country – netting 14 times in 27 Serie A appearances for the Viola last season and finding the net 9 times in 20 games for his country. Those statistics become rather more impressive if you consider they have come with struggling sides.

There can be little doubt Jovetic would be provided more scoring chances by a Chelsea team that boasts creative talents like Eden Hazard and Juan Mata, which would make his signing a mouthwatering prospect for fans of the European Champions.

Whether Roberto Di Matteo’s side succeed in signing Hulk or Jovetic, it seems likely that the side will be boasting a new-look attack next season, with the likes of Drogba and Kalou already making way. We reported yesterday that Newcastle’s exciting (and in no way injury prone) attacker Hatem Ben Arfa might also be on the way to joining the side.
