5. Jesper Gronkjaer

Gronkjaer Signed: 29th December 2000 Fee: £7,800,000 Talented Danish winger, who was not short of pace even towards the end of his career, Jesper Gronkjaer proved to be a great January signing for Chelsea. He remained at the club for four seasons, making 56 league appearances and contributing every time he stepped onto the field. Even when he didn't start matches he was a great name to have on the bench, and a player of whom the manager knew he could always call upon to come on and change a game.
