Chelsea Transfers: 5 Players Mourinho Will Sign In January To Make Blues His Own

5. Raphaël Varane

Jose Mourinho could be on the lookout for a new centre-back in January with the future of David Luiz looking increasingly uncertain. The Brazilian, who was a Carlo Ancelotti signing in January 2011, has only started five times this season under Mourinho, and was poor when he played centre-half during the 2-0 defeat to Newcastle. There are concerns Luiz doesn't fit in with Mourinho's style of play at Stamford Bridge, with the Portuguese boss not a fan of the South American's penchant for risk-taking at the back. And if Mourinho does decide to wash his hands of the former Benfica man in January, he might turn to former player Raphaël Varane. Mourinho signed Varane from Lens in June 2011 for former club Real Madrid and the 'Special One' is reportedly keen on a reunion - in west London. Such a task may prove difficult considering Varane's importance to the current Madrid set-up, but he may still try with a £25 million bid.
