Chelsea Transfers: 5 Signings That Could Catch United

5. Marco Reus

marco reus Despite the fact Frank Lampard has penned a one-year extension on his current contract at Stamford Bridge, the Blues are going to have to plot for life without their goal-scoring midfielder, with the England international celebrating his 35th birthday last month. His replacement will be a difficult one to find - after all, how do you replace your all-time record goal scorer? One option available to Jose Mourinho in those regards is to once more plunder the Bundesliga of another of its stars. Having already captured Bayer Leverkusen's Andre Schurrle, the "Special One" could now go in for Borussia Dortmund's highly-rated Maro Reus. The 24-year-old netted 19 times in 47 overall appearances for the Champions League finalists last season and played a big part in Jurgen Klopp's side reaching the last stage of the competition, contributing with 4 goals in 12 European appearances. He's been linked with a big money move to Stamford Bridge and there's little questioning his arrival would provide the Londoner's with more impetus in the attacking third. A replacement for Lampard? That's debatable. A quality signing? No doubt. Though the Blues would need to stump up £35 million.
