Chelsea Transfers: 5 Things Didier Drogba Can Still Offer The Blues

Why the return of the king will be far from ceremonial.

Despite Jose Mourinho's claims that his transfer business is done for the summer, Chelsea are in talks with Didier Drogba over a possible return to the club, according to the BBC. Drogba - who scored 157 goals in 341 appearances for the Blues before leaving for Shanghai Shenhua in 2012 - is currently a free agent after being released by Turkish outfit Galatasaray this summer, and is considering an emotional return to Stamford Bridge on a one-year contract. Representatives for the Ivory Coast international insist a decision has not yet been reached over their client's next career move, but talks with the Blues are well underway and if all goes to plan, Drogba could announce his decision to return to west London later this week. Such a return would clearly delight Chelsea's legions of fans, where Drogba is to this day considered a legend after gaining cult status by scoring the decisive penalty against Bayern Munich to secure the Blues' first ever Champions League crown in 2012. But at 36, how much does the striker have left in the tank, and what can he still offer the club two years on? With Drogba's stunning return to SW6 on the cards, here, we attempt to answer that question. Click 'next' to find out.
