Chelsea Transfers: Blues Targetting Isco And Marquinhos

Hiddink aiming to "spend big" on exciting targets.

Hot on the tail of news that Guus Hiddink is closing in on the signing of Ukrainian based Brazilian attacking midfielder Alex Teixeira for £30m, the new Chelsea boss is now being linked with a move for Real Madrid midfielder Isco. The London Evening Standard are reporting that Chelsea are considering rivalling both Man City and Juventus for the signature of the Spanish midfielder who has struggled to make an impact in Madrid since joining back in 2013. He's made just 9 starts this term, and while the Standard say Madrid are "unwilling to sell this month", the player is concerned about losing his place in Spain's Euro 2016 squad. Whether he would command the same sort of fee as he did when he moved from Malaga to Madrid two years ago remains to be seen, but Chelsea are already making a statement of intent in their pursuit of Teixeira. The suggestion - by the Standard - that Chelsea want to "spend big" sounds spot on if their report that they're also looking at PSG's Brazilian centre-back Marquinhos this window. They had a bid rejected in August, but the stopper is frustrated at being out of the first team picture after making only 7 starts this season:
€œLike everyone else, I always want to be a part of the starting line-up. I will continue to work to get my place. But it€™s true there will come a moment where I am older. You cannot just get used to sitting on the bench.€
If all three targets were to sign that would be a significant boost to the beleaguered Blues, who need to desperately claw their way back up the Premier League towards a respectable finish.
