Crystal Palace and Spurs played out an entertaining opening weekend match on Sunday in the Premier League, with Spurs walking away from the match as the narrow victors. 5. Spurs Can Win Without Bale
Rest assured, this wasn't an easy game for Tottenham, so showing yet again that they can win without their talisman further proves that they aren't the 'one man team' so many people claim (they won several matches without him last season as well). Hugo Lloris looked dependable, the seasoned partnership of Dawson and Vertonghen looked safe, Spurs were particularly effective down the right as Kyle Walker and Aaron Lennon showed a great understanding, they looked solid in the middle and Soldado looked like the threat up top that Spurs have needed for so long. Essentially, without looking sensational - which isn't to be expected on the opening day of a new season with a bunch of new signings who are yet to gel - Spurs looked capable, even without their star man, which will make a few fans happy and shut the mouths of a few others.
