Danny Ings Transfer: Tottenham Rival Liverpool For Burnley Striker's Signature

Spurs have stole a march on Liverpool in the transfer market yet again.

Tottenham Hotspur€™s search for a striker to play back-up to Harry Kane has led to the club preparing a £12m bid for Burnley€™s Danny Ings, according to Sky Sports.

Ings is out of contract at Turf Moor at the end of June, but Spurs are hoping that an early bid will secure them the player€™s services ahead of any of their rivals.

It has been well-documented within the media that Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is keen on bringing the England Under-21 international to Anfield, but Spurs look set to go head-to-head with the Merseyside club for his signing.

It would not be the first time Spurs have made late swoops for Liverpool targets, however, with Clint Dempsey, Ben Davies, Michel Vorm and Roberto Soldado all rumoured to have been on Liverpool's radar before Spurs eventually snuck in and secured the deals.

Ings confirmed to Burnley fans in an interview with the club€™s match-day programme that he would leaving at the end of the season, having finished as the club€™s top scorer with 11 goals this campaign.

Burnley will offer Ings a new contract as a formality in order to qualify for the compensation due under Premier League regulations. Should both parties fail to agree on a deal, Ings€™ transfer fee will be decided by a tribunal.

The expected fee would be around £5-6m but Spurs are reportedly prepared to offer double that to secure the front-man€™s services.

Liverpool remain firm favourites to capture his signature but he will assess all of his options and make a final decision in the next two weeks.
