While there is some truth to the strikers claims, his Brazilian side were outplayed by an England side that supposedly did not have any match winners outside of Rooney. Now before all England fans get hyped up over this game, it is important to note that England have a lot of work to do if they are to reach the long awaited glory of another trophy, but this game did prove these 5 players are capable of reaching that pinnacle.

5. Jack Wilshere

If someone before the game did not know which 21 year old player was destined to be the greatest player of his generation, then by the end of the game they probably would have said England's Jack Wilshere, rather than Brazil's, Neymar. The Arsenal midfielder deservedly picked up the games "Man of the Match" award for a fantastic display. Wilshere, unlike so many England players before him, seems comfortable with the ball at his feet, and is even asks for the ball to come to him. He was able to both pass the team out of trouble with short give and go's, and press Brazil when they had possession. The ability to play a perfectly time through ball is tricky, and Wilshere made it look simple with multiple through balls in behind the defence, particualrly in the channel between the centre back and fullback. It was this type of ball that unlocked the Brazil defence for the opening goal, and would have been an incredible assist had it not been for a great save by Juilio Cesar. England have often been frustrated by a lack of fluidity inside the midfield, but that seemed different with Wilshere in the team. Wilshere was able to provide a key link to Rooney up top, and effectively play alongside Gerrard and Cleverley. England's midfield dynamic greatly improved with Wilshere back, and at such a young age we can expect him to be there for a long time yet.
