England: 5 Reasons Three Lions Can Win The World Cup

5. Fearless Roy Hodgson

Prior to his appointment as manager, Roy Hodgson had built up a reputation for being a man who favoured a cautious approach to games. Somebody who would look to solidify the defence before averting his focus on the attack, and being a manager who would look to the opponents' biggest threats instead of his own. However, in recent games for England, Hodgson has named some of the most youthful and attacking line-ups in his tenure with the Three Lions, and has been greatly rewarded as a result. The 66-year old has been choosing form over reputation most notably in attack, and hasn't been afraid to go full-on with his tactics. Giving a debut cap to a young player during a crunch World Cup qualifier is just one of many gambles Hodgson has made and benefited from - with debutant Andros Townsend being named man of the match against Montenegro. Justified. Put simply, Roy Hodgson sticks to his guns, and has no qualms in dropping a player in the deep end if he believes they are up to the task. He's made the big decisions, and has gotten them right for England. So why should people question his judgement? He's becoming more and more bold with his squad selection, and as previously seen, he can inspire the side to perform in crunch situations.
