England: 5 Stars Who Should Break Through For World Cup 2014

5. Wilfred Zaha

Zaha Ivory Coast born Zaha, 18, chose to represent England and won his first full cap in the friendly vs Sweden in November last year. His performances for Crystal Palace this season led to Sir Alex Ferguson stealing a march on his rivals to sign him for Manchester United. As part of the deal, he was loaned back to Palace for the remainder of the season and it could be argued that he has not quite been the same player since. He did however turn in an excellent display for England Under 21's vs Romania, scoring his first goal in a man of the match performance. If Zaha can rediscover his early season form between now and the end of this season, with the possibility of spearheading a promotion push for Palace, then he is likely to find himself heading to the European Championships with the Under 21's this Summer. This would be an invaluable experience for Zaha and if he lives up to expectations, it could be enough to convince Fergie to give him a run in the side next season. United are not short of attacking options and are sure to be challenging on all fronts again next season. Zaha may therefore be restricted to League Cup starts along with some action in other competitions as an impact substitute, but if takes his chances and lives up to the hype, then he could play a more prominent part at United and add to his single cap sooner rather than later.
