England vs Moldova - Team News, Match Preview & Likely Line-Ups

Match Preview

England manager Roy Hodgson must continue his tilt for World Cup qualification without star striker Wayne Rooney and Daniel Sturridge against Moldova and Ukraine. The Three Lions boss will also be without defenders Phil Jones and Glen Johnson, and will be hoping his patched-up side will have enough quality to press ahead with their assault on top spot in Group H. The loss of Rooney is a blow but further news that Sturridge will be sidelined after failing to overcome a thigh injury will hit hard. The Liverpool man has been in superb form of late, scoring in all three of the Red's Premier League games so far this season. The injuries to Rooney and Sturridge means Rickie Lambert getting the nod to pair Danny Welbeck up front, after the Southampton star impressed by scoring on his international debut against Scotland last month. With Montenegro currently topping the table by two points, anything less than a win at home, against a team they hammered 5-0 away last year, will be a considerable disappointment for England, regardless of the injury pileup.
