Five reasons why England didn't win Euro 2012...

1. The Manager

Roy Hodgson was appointed England manager on May 1st, leaving him just short of 40 days to prepare the Three Lions for Euro 2012. It took the F.A three months to replace Fabio Capello after he resigned over the John Terry captaincy row way back in February. In that time, Harry Redknapp flirted with the vacant managerial position, leaving Tottenham to slump to a disastrous run of form that ultimately cost them their hopes of finishing third in the Premier League. The F.A should have been clear from the start, they should have identified the man they wanted for the position immediately and appointed him. This would have given Hodgson four months to prepare England for the Euro's and most importantly get used to the team, and allow the team to get used to his tactics in return. He would have had much more time to mull over his final 23 man squad selection instead of cobbling together a team that has been tried and tested, but ultimately failed at all their preceding tournaments.
