Spain take on Italy in tonight’s Euro 2012 final at the Olympic Stadium in Kiev. Kick-off time is at 7.45pm and the match will be screened live on BBC 1 and ITV 1.
Here’s the team news ahead of the game…
Spain head coach Vicente del Bosque needs to decide on whether to start with Alvaro Negredo after his display against Portugal on Wednesday or whether to recall Chelsea striker Fernando Torres to the starting line-up. Cesc Fabregas, scorer of the winning penalty against Portugal and who had probably his best game of the tournament, could also start if Del Bosque decides against selecting an out and out forward for the defending champions.
For Italy, Ignazio Abate is hoping to be fit again after missing the semi-final win against Germany with a hamstring problem, though if he isn’t some shifting will need to be done with Federico Balzaretti who switched from left-back to right-back against Germany. Forwards Antonio Cassano (twisted knee) and Mario Balotelli (cramp) should both overcome their minor knocks to lead the Italians frontline. Playmaker Daniele De Rossi also appears to have overcome his sciatic nerve problem and he played the full 90 minutes against Germany.
Napoli wing-back Christian Maggio is now back from suspension but will probably have to settle for a place on the bench.
