Confirmation awaits that he will be Fergie's successor. Original story follows... Manchester United are locked in talks with Everton over the release of David Moyes to succeed Sir Alex Ferguson, according to the BBC. Moyes is out of contract at the end of the season and would be free to join United without the Red Devils having to pay the Toffee's any compensation, and the 50-year old is understood to have told club chairman Bill Kenwright his intentions to join the Premier League champions in a meeting last night. But nothing has been agreed as yet, and Kenwright believes Moyes will still be in charge of the Toffees on Sunday, when they entertain West Ham in what will be the Scotsman's final home game of the season. Moyes was expected to be unveiled as United's new manager today, but that announcement could now slip to Friday, according to reports. Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho was linked with the job, but Moyes is still believed to be the overwhelming favourite with many reports suggesting it's a "done deal" and now only a matter of time. Roberto Martinez is the red hot favourite to succeed Moyes as Everton manager next season, with the Spaniard set to quit relegation haunted Wigan Athletic. More follows.
