Newcastle United u18s 4-0 Sunderland u18s Date: Monday 20th January Competition: FA Youth Cup Venue: St James' Park Newcastle under 18's progressed to the last 16 of the FA Youth Cup having seen off their Sunderland counterparts at St James' Park with an impressive 4-0 win, with a huge contribution from local striker Jonathyn Quinn, as he scored a hat-trick in front of three thousand Geordie fans. The Magpies were perhaps the better side in the first half, and they left it late to take a deserved lead. Jamaican winger Rolando Aarons forced his way past the Black Cats' defence on the left flank and assisted Quinn in the six yard box, who slipped it past Sunderland's Polish goalkeeper Maksymilian Stryjek to make it 1-0 a minute before the break. Newcastle's and Quinn's tally was doubled ten minutes into the second half as the striker took advantage of some poor defending from the Sunderland defence to tap it in from a matter of yards. Quinn bagged his hat-trick with 20 minutes to go as he followed in full back Jamie Sterry's impressive pass, this time on the right flank and the striker topped off a perfect night and took home the match ball. But the rout didn't stop there. Quinn's partner Adam Armstrong got in on the act following some more sloppy defending by the Sunderland keeper and back line, making it 4-0 and a score that the team and fans alike should be proud of. Newcastle will now face the winner of Stoke City or Derby County, who play on Thursday night. Line-Ups Newcastle: Woodman, Sterry, Gillesphey (Drennan), Olley, McKinnon, Satka, Gilliead (Wright), Kemen, Quinn (Heardman), Armstrong, Aarons. Sunderland: Stryjek, Ledger, T.Robson, E.
