Spurs won 2-0 on Thursday night in a surprisingly difficult game in Moldova against FC Sheriff Tiraspol. The White Hart Lane club scored one goal in each half - one from Jan Vertonghen and one from Jermain Defoe (who equalled Martin Chivers' 22 goal European haul for the club) - despite the fact that they were actually the poorer team for a decent chunk of the game. The win puts Spurs on nine points with three wins out of three at the top of Group K - five points clear of nearest rivals Anzhi - but they still haven't quite qualified for the next round mathematically yet. In the end, Andre Villas-Boas, the Spurs team and their fans will have been relieved to have come away with three points from this one - and indeed another clean sheet to maintain their record of not having conceded a goal in the Europa League this season - but it will give everyone concerned a lot to think about.
