Fulham Transfer News: Clint Dempsey To Return On Loan?

United States striker Clint Dempsey could make a short term return to the Premier League in January, with former club Fulham reportedly keen to take him back on loan. Dempsey left Craven Cottage in 2012, where he swapped West London for North London, joining Tottenham Hotspur on a three year deal. However, the 30 year old cut his stay short and moved back across the pond, signing for Seattle Sounders in July after just one season at White Hart Lane. New Fulham Head Coach Rene Meulensteen will be looking to add to his squad in the January transfer window to steer away from the relegation zone, and Dempsey could be an ideal short term replacement for Dimitar Berbatov, who has expressed his desire to leave The Cottagers. The MLS season doesn't start until March 8th, leaving it's players free to join European clubs in the New Year on two month deals, something Thierry Henry, Landon Donovan, Robbie Keane and of course David Beckham have done in the past. West Ham have also reportedly expressed an interest, but Seattle boss Adrian Hanauer claims Fulham are the likely destination for the former fans favourite. (Source: Daily Mail) The Texan scored 50 goals in 184 appearances for Fulham across six seasons.
