Fulham Transfer News: Cottagers Close On Johnny Heitinga

Fulham are closing in on the signing of Everton defender Johnny Heitinga, Sky Sports News understands. The Dutch international had look set for a move to West Ham earlier in the window but rejected a move to the Hammers. He now though looks set to move to London and Fulham. Heitinga has made more than 100 league appearances for the Toffees since joining in 2009 but has not been part of Roberto Martinez's plans since coming in as manager and has made just one league appearance this season. He was believed to be on the verge of a move to Turkish club Galatasary after manager Martinez had said the player was in discussions with the club and Roma were also thought to be interested in the defender. He is now understood though to be in discussions with Fulham and be undergoing a medical. It has already been a busy day for Fulham with Konstantinos Mitroglu joining from Olympiakos and Lewis Holtby joining on loan from Tottenham. Fulham are currently 19th in the league and the first job of the new recruits will be to keep the Cottagers in the Premier League. With Sky Sports News also reporting that Swansea defender Neil Taylor has been the subject of bids from Fulham it could be a busy end to the day at Craven Cottage.
