Hull Transfer News: Shane Long Signs For Tigers

Republic of Ireland striker Shane Long has joined Hull City from Premier League rivals West Bromwich Albion for an undisclosed fee. The 26-year-old has signed a three-and-a-half-year deal at the KC Stadium. Former Reading frontman Long will wear the number 21 shirt at the Tigers. He is the second striker brought to the club by Steve Bruce this week following the arrival of Croatia's Nikica Jelavic from Everton. Long, who scored 19 Premier League goals for Albion over two-and-a-half years, told Hull's official website: "I finally got the deal signed. I've met all of the lads today, and everybody seems really friendly. It's a club that's on the up, and I'm delighted to be a part of that. "After meeting the manager, and respecting what he's done as a player and a manager, I was happy to start a new part of my career here and hopefully I can score a few goals to take us further up the league." Bruce tried to sign Long last summer, but a transfer deadline day deal with the Baggies fell through. The Tigers boss has got his man at the second attempt. Speaking of his Republic of Ireland teammates Robbie Brady, Paul McShane, David Meyler and Stephen Quinn who he joins at Hull, Long added: "I'm lucky that I've had a few inside informers letting me know what it's like up here. They all love it up here, and they're excited by what is happening at the club." Long went to Euro 2012 with his country and has ten international goals in 43 games.
