Liverpool: Can Daniel Pacheco Make A Difference at Anfield?

Liverpool have been stuck in a downward spiral for what seems like forever and Brendan Rodgers€™ side are not only struggling with consistency - 1 win in 7 Premier League matches, and currently sitting in 14th position - but are also facing a dilemma with injuries. The latest injury to Fabio Borini and the failure to find a reliable replacement for on-loan Andy Carroll has cast a cloud of doubt over Liverpool€™s possibilities this season, as they continue their attempts to restore belief and class at Anfield. The former Swansea manager is being realistic about matters at Liverpool, as he shows faith in his young players, giving them the chance to impress at the highest level, and even if a sudden return to glory seems unrealistic, nurturing the talents at root level is a resourceful approach from the manager, with Liverpool€™s transfer budget apparently limited. But can the latest youngster to express his determination to force a first team opportunity really solve the club's selection problems? Joining the Reds in 2009, 21-year old Spaniard Daniel Pacheco has been swapping shirts frequently during the last year and half, temporarily plying his trade at Norwich, Athlético Madrid and Rayo Vallecano in that time. Can he cope with the Premier League week in week out? Can he stamp his authority among some of Europe's finest strikers, and more importantly among some of the finest defenders? The answer to those queries can only come from his feet, if he is given enough time on the pitch by his manager that is. €œI am trying to work very hard to get into the team€, the Spaniard told Sky Sports. €œI think every season is a crucial season for everyone, but maybe because I haven€™t played that many games in the last seasons, maybe this is the one I can break into the first team €“ and I€™ll try my best to try and make that happen.€ Judging by his words, determination is clearly not a problem, but consistency and reliability are what Liverpool need in their struggle for survival in both England and Europe. Fabio Borini fracturing his foot while training with Italy€™s Under 21s could be the ultimate chance for Pacheco to show his mettle, with Luis Suarez now being the only fit striker available to Rodgers. The 21-year old Spaniard most probably knows the weight on his shoulders, and the legacy he defends while wearing a red shirt, giving football fans a member of the attacking staff at Anfield to keep an eye on in upcoming fixtures. At the very least, Pacheco€™s determination speaks for itself, and his excitement at the prospect of making a mark at Anfield is probably proven in these words: "His style is definitely a style that suits me. It's the way we like to play in Spain and I've been playing all of my life. We have shown already we are playing good football and I am sure the results will come."
