Liverpool Transfer News: Bayern Munich Step Up Pursuit Of Luis Suarez

Metro. The newly crowned German champions have already signed Mario Gotze from Borussia Dortmund and want to strengthen even further in the summer by bringing in a new striker. They have been linked with Suarez for some time now and soon-to-be new manager Pep Guardiola is said to be a big fan of the Uruguayan. The former Barcelona coach also feels he has a distinct advantage in the battle for the controversial star as his brother Pere is the forward's agent. Bayern have also been linked with Lewandowski, who underlined his potential by scoring all four goals in the routing of Real Madrid in last week's Champions League semi-final first leg. However, it is unlikely that Bayern will successfully persuade Dortmund into selling considering they have already procured one of their domestic rival's star players in Gotze. It now appears Manchester United is the most likely destination for the Polish international. Manager Sir Alex Ferguson, who already has Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie at his disposal, remarked when asked if he could make room for the star: "Have I got room for him? I can find room for anybody." Whether he ends up at Old Trafford or not, Ferguson is sure of one thing - He will not be going to Bayern. Dortmund are unlikely to sell two of their stars to their closest rivals in as many weeks, and the veteran Scot observed:

"Dortmund fans are not going to be happy and I don€™t think they will sell Lewandowski to Bayern Munich. I think they€™ll let his contract run out, or sell him somewhere else."
That then means Bayern could now ramp up their pursuits of Suarez, who will not play a competitive game in England again until the end of September.
