Liverpool Transfer News: Gylfi Sigurdsson On Verge of £6.8 Million Move

Gylfi Sigurdsson is on the verge of joining his former Swansea boss Brendan Rodgers at Liverpool in a £6.8 million move.

The Mirror. The Icelandic international, who made a sensational impact in the Premier League during his six month loan spell at the Liberty Stadium, has made it known he wants to follow Rodgers to Anfield. The newly installed Liverpool manager is similarly desperate to bring Sigurdsson in as his first signing. The 22-year-old attacking midfielder was just days away from joining Swansea in a permanent move after the Welsh based club had agreed a £6.8 million fee with Hoffenheim for the player and only personal terms needed to be agreed. However when Rodgers left for the Liverpool vacancy, Sigurdsson stalled talks over the deal when it became clear Rodgers desired to take him to Merseyside. Sigurdsson confirmed last week that he now had second thoughts over joining Swansea, admist talks that Liverpool are set to announce him as their first signing for a fee similar to the £6.8 million he almost joined Swansea for. However The Mirror claims Sigurdsson does want to show respect to the new Swans manager first before he does make the switch to Liverpool.
