Liverpool Transfer News: Henrikh Mkhitaryan Dismisses Anfield Move

Express. Reports have been away recently about the future of the 24-year-old attacking midfielder, and Liverpool were believed at one stage to be the front runners for his signature. The Ukraine giants have already told Red's manager Brendan Rodgers that his side would have to fork out £20 million for Mkhitaryan's services and the Northern Irishman was keen on the player and of the prospect of the goals he'd bring to his side. The Donetsk man scored 25 league goals in 28 appearances last season and Rodgers had hoped he'd help ease some of the goal-scoring burden currently being shouldered by Liverpool's top scorer last season, Luis Suarez. But the player has poured cold water over speculation linking him to Anfield this summer, which will come as disappointing news to the Reds. Mkhitaryan posted a statement on his official Facebook page which read:

"I am happy to see that people show keen interest in my career but I would like to ask all not only to refrain from making comments but also to prevent the spread of unverified and false information. "I am not meddling with these affairs. I have a contract with a club, I just fulfil it."
Liverpool have however enjoyed a fruitful transfer window so far and yesterday concluded a deal for Iago Aspas. The Reds have also signed Kolo Toure from Manchester City, Luis Alberto from Sevilla and are also about to sign Sunderland goalkeeper Simon Mignolet.
