Liverpool Transfer News: Loic Remy To Have Medical

Loic Remy could become a Liverpool player this week.

Liverpool have moved a step closer to completing the move for Loic Remy with the QPR striker set to undergo a medical in Boston, and the £8.5 million transfer could be completed by Thursday this week, according to Team Talk. Remy moved to the Premier League in 2013 from Marseille and caught the eye while playing for Queens Park Rangers, scoring six goals in 14 appearances. However, he could not keep the London club in the topflight and moved to Newcastle on a season-long loan last summer following their relegation to the Championship. He again impressed in the north east, scoring 14 times in 26 league games, putting him on the radar of Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers. Remy is understood to have had a clause in his contract at Rangers entitling him to move for £8.5 million if a club in the Champions League made a bid. The French international is now reported to have joined the Reds on their tour pre-season of the USA, where he is set to complete his medical and wrap up the formalities of the deal. However, Rodgers was apprehensive to discuss potential transfers when questioned by Boston media this week. He said:
"I shall not talk about speculation on any player until they have signed. I will talk about them when they are signed and have agreed to come in."

Liverpool have been looking for a new striker after selling Luis Suarez to Barcelona for £75 million this month.
