Liverpool Transfer News: Real Madrid To Make Last Minute Luis Suarez Bid?

Daily Mail. Real could be in the market for a new striker this summer if Arsenal's move for Karim Benzema is successful, and could therefore renew their interest in the 26-year-old. Liverpool's stance over Suarez has not changed having successfully fended off the Gunners, who made two bids for the Uruguayan, including one of £1 over £40 million earlier this summer. But Arsene Wenger's side have now turned their attentions to Benzema which could cause the Merseyside club problems. Suarez has made no secret of his ambitions to play for a Champions League club in the past and recently admitted a move to the Spanish capital "would be a dream". The former Ajax man has been angling for a move away all summer and was recently banished from training with the Liverpool first team and forced into making a grovelling apology to manager Brendan Rodgers. That seemed to spell the end of Arsenal's interest but it could be just the beginning of Real's bid to land a replacement striker for Benzema. Rodgers admitted that he expected to face interest in Suarez from rival clubs right up until the final day of the transfer window. The Northern Irishman said recently:

"I'm sure there will be plenty of activity in these last days (before the window closes). It is what it is. We will deal with it like we have during the summer."
