Liverpool Transfer News: Reds Fail In Chico Flores Bid

One of the biggest deals of the last few hours of the January transfer window has been Liverpool's long-winded pursuit of Dnipro winger Yevhen Konoplyanka, which was believed to have faltered earlier in the day, but according to the Daily Mail, Brendan Rodgers and Ian Ayre were working on another deal to bolster the squad at Anfield. According to both Alex Kay, of the Daily Mail, and the Mail's reporter Riath Al-Samarrai, who covers Swansea City and Cardiff City, Liverpool lodged a bid for Swansea City's Spanish centre-half Chico Flores.
The 26 year old defender has enjoyed a good time with Swansea since signing from Genoa in July 2012, and recently signed a new one year extension to keep him at the club until 2016. The details of the bid have not yet been disclosed, but it's likely that Chico's Premier League experience and the inevitable January premium would have meant that Liverpool would be faced with a significantly bigger price tag than Swansea paid Genoa for the tall stopper. Flores has scored one league goal this season, and remains an important part of Michael Laudrup's first team. What do you think of this news? Should Liverpool go back in for Flores in the summer?
