Liverpool Transfer News: Reds In "Advanced Talks" To Sign Christian Atsu

Guardian. The Reds have already signed defender Kolo Toure from Manchester City and have provisionally agreed a £7.6 million deal for Celta Vigo striker Iago Aspas, while Shakhtar Donetsk's £22 million-rated midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Sevilla forward Luis Alberto are also believed to be on the way to Anfield. But the spending won't end there with manager Brendan Rodgers keen to bring in Porto's promising winger Atsu, who is valued at just £3 million. The Ghanaian is known as a quick and talented wideman but has at times put in some erratic performances. He was brought into the Porto first team by now-Spurs manager Andre Villas-Boas and is viewed by Rodgers as an individual who can offer his team more attacking width next season. He is out of contract next summer and has already told Porto officials he does not intend to sign a renewal. His arrival would raise yet more questions over the future of Stewart Downing. As well as moving for Atsu, Rodgers is also contemplating bidding for Sunderland goalkeeper Simon Mignolet, 25.
