Liverpool Transfer News: Rodgers Keen On La Liga Duo

TalkSport, the former Swansea man is considering making ambitious moves for both Atletico Madrid winger Arda Turan and Barcelona's Alexis Sanchez, to give his side some more attacking options. The Reds have scored only nine times in the Premier league so far this season, and Rodgers has seen his already dangerously limited attacking options depleted even further after Fabio Borini suffered a broken foot. With Andy Carroll out on loan at West Ham, and no replacement signed before the end of the transfer window, Liverpool can now only count on Luis Suarez as a recognisable striker, and face the prospect of relying solely on him during Borini's recovery. Talksport are suggesting that reports in Spain claim that Rodgers sent scouts to Turkey's 1-0 defeat to Romania in their World Cup qualifying campaign to run the rule over Turan, who they say is a self-confessed Liverpool fan. Indeed back in 2010, Turan spoke to UEFA.com to confirm his attraction to the Anfield side (via the Daily Mail):

"As I always mention, Liverpool attracts me because of their tradition. In Europe, I am a Liverpool supporter, so if I go to play in Europe, I would like to play for them. My dream has always been to play for one of the top European clubs, but you shouldn't make concrete plans in your life because sometimes these plans cannot be achieved. 'This is my dream, but for now I'm just working on my football."
The 25-year-old winger, who only joined Atletico Madrid last year from Galatasaray, has been linked with the club before. Should a successful bid be made, the Turkish international could be joined at Anfield by Chile international Alexis Sanchez, who Talksport also say is attracting interest from Liverpool. The report suggests that despite starting well at the Nou Camp, suggestions are that he could fall out of favour under new Barca boss Tito Vilanova, and he hasn't been an ever-present so far this season.
