Liverpool Transfer News: Shock Loan Bid Made For Micah Richards

Liverpool have made a shock loan bid for Micah Richards, reports The Daily Mail. Liverpool are currently short in the right back position with Glen Johnson suffering from a number of injuries that are limiting his playing opportunities. The bid was immediately rejected by Manchester City, meaning that Brendan Rodgers will either have to come in with a better offer or look elsewhere for cover. Richards has made only nine appearances for Manchester City in the last two seasons, as Pablo Zabaleta has been preferred at right back by manager Manuel Pellegrini. Micah Richards has let it be known in recent weeks that he would look at leaving the club if he was not able to get more first team football. It would make seem to make some sense for the club to loan him out for more first team football if they don€™t plan to use him. However it appears that the manager is unwilling to let the player leave as he wants him as cover in the closing stages of the season. Richards been at Man City his entire professional career and has made 179 appearances. He spent some of his youth career at Oldham Athletic and Leeds United before signing his senior contract with the Sky Blues. His international career has included a number of caps for the England national squad as well as representing Great Britain at the 2012 Olympics. If this transfer situation changes he would not be the first Man City player tomake a switch to Liverpool this season. Ivorian Kolo Toure, brother to Yaya, made a permanent switch to the Anfield club during the summer on a free transfer.
