Liverpool Transfer News: Walcott / Sterling Swap Deal With Arsenal Could Be Back On

Rodgers may demand Theo Walcott in any deal for Raheem Sterling.

Liverpool will reportedly look to revive a swap deal for Arsenal's Theo Walcott with Raheem Sterling determined to force his way out of the club.

Manchester City remain favourites to capture the 21-year old's signature this summer but Sterling is said to prefer a move back to the capital.

If a deal can be agreed with Arsenal, Brendan Rodgers would be keen on a swap deal for the two pacy wingers, with both players appearing to fancy moves away from their respective clubs.

Chelsea and Manchester United have made tentative enquires about Sterling's availability, but recent reports claim that Brendan Rodgers will check on Walcott's situation before deciding on any potential Sterling sale.

Liverpool boss Rodgers is a long-term admirer of Walcott having tried to sign the England winger last summer, and the 26-year old is demanding the guarantee of more game-time before committing his future to the Gunners.

Walcott scored a hat-trick on Sunday against West Brom, reminding coach Wenger precisely how effective he can be when used as the main striker.

Walcott's hopes of being used as a central striker are being damaged, however, by the sensational scoring form of French hitman Olivier Giroud.

When Walcott signed his new £100,000 a week contract a year ago it was on the promise of playing in his favourite role €“ he€™d just made his case by getting five goals in as many games after being moved from the wings.

Since then though, Walcott has featured only sporadically as a striker and with Brendan Rodgers' striking options looking scarce at this moment in time, a swap deal may suit both parties.
