Liverpool Transfers: Loic Remy Set To Replace Luis Suarez

Frenchman set for £80,000 a week, £8m move to Anfield.

Despite QPR forward Loic Remy's seemingly confident assertions before the World Cup that he wanted to wait until after the tournament to fulfil his desire to play Champion League, the Frenchman is yet to seal a dream move, and it looks like his desire to move to Arsenal in particular has now dried up entirely over his excessive wage demands. But Liverpool might be about to rescue him from his current situation at QPR, and give him the premium competition place he craves, after seeing star player Luis Suarez head to Barcelona for an astronomical £70m or so. In the grand history of Liverpool royally pissing off Newcastle, the club look set to swoop in and take the striker - who would cost them £8m - from under the noses of Alan Pardew's side, who were said to be confident of reviving a deal for the 14 goal hitman, despite signing Monaco's Emmanuel Riviere earlier this week. According to the Sun (via), Arsenal have baulked at Remy's £80,000 a week wage demands, and were only willing to give him a paltry £50,000, which he couldn't ever have hoped to survive on in this economy. Liverpool have already approached the Londoners about signing Remy, and apparently have no concerns over his lofty demands, since their bank account is newly swollen with Suarez's transfer fee, and they probably rightly realise that paying only £8m for a striker with Premier League experience, who could score in a team as toothless as Newcastle were for a good deal of last season is reason enough to give the player up to about £120k a week. Arsenal meanwhile seem unconvinced, and the road is now entirely clear for the Frenchman to join Liverpool, and play alongside fellow new signing Rickie Lambert in the Anfield side's new-look forward line.
