Liverpool Transfers News: Sevilla's Moreno Now "Priority Signing"

Brendan Rodgers continues to look for defensive reinforcements.

On the back of the news that Sevilla will only allow Alberto Moreno to leave the club after the UEFA Super Cup against Champions League winners Real Madrid, Sky Sports are reporting that the full-back is Brendan Rodgers' priority in the transfer market. The exciting left-back will apparently join Liverpool for around £16million after the showpiece event at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium on Tuesday, and Suso could well be going the other way as part of the same deal. Liverpool have already strengthened considerably ahead of the new season, but remain light at full-back, where Glen Johnson was roundly criticised at times last season. Javier Manquillo has been loaned to strengthen at right-back, and now Moreno would presumably sign as first-choice left-back (considering his price), putting Jose Enrique's future into doubt and pushing Jon Flanagan back to a supporting role. £16m is a lot for a defender, but Liverpool shipped way too many goals last season and if they are to once more compete for a Champions League place, or better, they need to address those issues. Are you excited at the prospect of signing Moreno? Should Liverpool look to strengthen any more areas? Share your thoughts below in the comments thread.
