Man City Complete £49 Million Raheem Sterling Record Signing

Raheem Sterling is now the most expensive English player of all time ...

Manchester City have officially completed the £49m signing of Raheem Sterling from Liverpool, making the 20-year-old the most expensive English player in history, shattering the previous record set when Andy Carroll moved to Anfield for £35m. The two-time Premier League champions have confirmed that Sterling has put pen to paper on a long-term five-year contract and will wear the vacant number 7 shirt following James Milner's recent departure. Speaking about the news to MCFC.co.uk, City boss Manuel Pellegrini delightedly said:

"Raheem Sterling is one of the best attacking players in world football, and I am very much looking forward to him joining our squad out in Australia later this week. "He is a young player with outstanding ability, and I am sure the Manchester City fans will be very excited about seeing him in action for the team."
Sterling's arrival represents the club's first major business of the summer after teenage forwards Enes Unal and David Faupala arrived from Turkey and France, respectively, last week. It will also serve as a significant boost to City's attempts to stay within 'homegrown' quotas.
