Man City Expected To Sack Roberto Mancini This Week

Daily Telegraph. Malaga Manuel Pellegrini is the favourite to succeed the 48-year-old Italian, who has reportedly told his players he is leaving the Spanish side at the end of the season. Mancini joined Manchester City back in December 2009 and the Italian has since spent over £200 million in his quest to triumph over rivals Manchester United. After a disappointing Premier League campaign, a Champions League adventure which led to no wins as well as being beaten by Wigan in the FA Cup final on Saturday, Mancini's time looks to be up. A late goal by Sergio Aguero on the last game of last season against Queens Park Rangers secured City's first Premier League trophy in 44 years, but after an underachieving year as City boss, the owner and board have now seemingly lost complete confidence in their manager. Mancini's departure would mean both Manchester clubs will have changed their manager in time for next season, with David Moyes having been confirmed as the next Manchester United manager. Rivals Manchester United announced on Wednesday that Sir Alex Ferguson would retire at the end of the season and with the news spreading across the country that Mancini was to be sacked fans at the Manchester United v Swansea match on Sunday started singing Mancini's departure.
